citation needed acropolis, teledetector, spectrometer - things people talk about In short, almost all the examples are derived from the same few papers and resources. Looking at the abundance of the above examples I will focus on the following papers. Martin-Jones, W., Martín, E., & Tipper, D. (2018). Dynamic clustering for dynamical data analysis. IEEE transactions on neural networks and learning systems, 29(10), 2606–2614. Felix, T., Martín, E., & Raftery, A. (2017). Probabilistic visualization for user-initiated dynamical data exploration. IEEE transactions on visualization and computer graphics, 23(4), 1254–1262. Felix, T., Martín, E., & Raftery, A. (2019). Toward Exploratory Visualization of Dynamical Systems. In International Conference on Advances in Multimedia Systems and Applications (pp. 190–197). Springer, Cham. latin, "N" is for "Newer model" and is simply a version number. I will not address this again but it's presence here highlights that PICs is often an afterthought. "A," is for "Archive" and is used in different ways. In the original PICs paper, the authors explicitly compare the performance of their technique to two other archive and cluster-based techniques called PAM and PAM_M. Archive A is defined as: "An archive is an object container that has two levels of nesting, an archive and a collection. Every object in the collection is contained within some archive, but an object may be contained in several different archives." This is taken from an interesting paper, Baba, R., & Regazzoni, G. (2009). Theory, Models, and Algorithms for Multi-Dimensional Data Analysis. Incidentally, if you want more detail you can check out the original PICs paper and its many citations which I have listed at the end of this post. The many other resources (e.g., "T," "R," "P" etc.) are discussed in the PICs paper and are best avoided. Additionally, most of the above papers are published in the last 5 years and are thus likely not eligible for the "newer model" suffix, especially given that the PICs paper was published in 2009
